Roemer Visscher house
The building at Geldersekade 16 dates from 1550 and is the former house of grain merchant and poet Roemer Visscher. Famous dutch poets like Vondel, Huygens and P.C. Hooft were guests in this house. The house gained its present look after an extensive remodelling done during the 18th century. Until only some time ago the Black Tulip Hotel was manifested here, an exclusive Gay hotel, a combination of luxury and lust, one of a kind in Europe. The rooms were furnsihed with various gadgets and toys for carrying out sexual fantasies. Nowadays the beautiful boutique hotel Mauro Mansion is established here.
