Trippenhuis
The Trippenhuis (house of the Trip family) at number 29 Kloveniersburgwal is a striking building, built in 1662. The Trip family became extremely wealthy by trading weapons, artillery, ammunition and even battle ships. The chimneys on the house are shaped like canons. The Trippenhuis is one of the widest houses in Amsterdam (22 meters). Nowadays it houses the Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen (Royal Dutch Academy of Science).
