This famous cafe opened its doors in the early fifties. During the sixties up to the seventies this was definitely "the place to be". Journalists, politicians, students, writers, artists, businessmen and other would be's, stood together, side by side, chattering and laughing.
The name De Koningshut is more or less named after beer called Köningspils, which was the only brand of beer that could be bought in Amsterdam during that time. Nowadays it is part of the Haesje Claes restaurant. Like the restaurant this café also has a unique interior containing a lot of beermugs collected over the years.
It offers seven different draught beers and a wide range of local and regional beers, making the Koningshut the perfect hang out for drinks after a hard day's work, celebrating someone's birthday, or a happy pre-drink location before dining at Haesje Claes.
Daily from 4.00 pm - 01.00 am.
