De Roode Laars

De Roode LaarsAuthentic tasting room with liqueurs, genevers and wines.

They're finally back: The Roode Laars (Red Boot). A long time ago you could find a shoemaker in this spot (thus the Red Boot outside). Then, in the turbulent times of the Zeedijk things changed frequently, first it became a cafe called De Roode Laars, then De Roode Baron. Since the end of 2012 Ger van der Valk (former owner of the Ooievaar) took over the cafe and gave the tasting room its old name: De Roode Laars. A gain for the Zeedijk because it brings back some nostalgia on the Zeedijk.

Bar De Roode laarsIn the meantime, son Jeroen has taken over the tasting room of his father and is he now the sympathetic host of this piece of Amsterdam history.

Did you know you could have a lovely Old Dutch liqueur tasting in De Roode Laars?
