On December 15 of 2017, Bistro Berlage opened her doors within the Beurs van Berlage. In this new style bistro, contemporary classics with a Dutch touch are being served. This approach is also reflected in the elegant interior where authentic monumental elements are combined with a modern look and feel. In the middle of the bistro you will find the large central bar, which lends itself perfectly for a drink. At this iconic location with a rich history, Bistro Berlage is ready for the future.
Contemporary classics out of local products
The enthusiastic team is led by chef Herb van Drongelen and manager Diederik Luijt. Van Drongelen, former chef at Ysbreeker and the Hyatt Regency in Birmingham, starts a new culinary adventure in Amsterdam with Bistro Berlage. On the menu, you will find his contemporary signature classics, which associate with the rich history of the stock exchange building and its place in Amsterdam. All ingredients are daily fresh and are being prepared with love, care and attention. Local products are used, like the bread of bakery Mama, the cheese of Fromagerie Kef, meat of Lindenhoff and wildlife of Brandt en Levie.
Besides lovely meat and fish dishes (for example a dry aged tenderloin with a gravy of red wine and fries, or a red gurnard filet with parsley root mousseline, spinach and sauce of Zeeland mussels), Bistro Berlage serves a number of tasty vegetarian dishes as well. On the lunch menu, you will find a roasted beetroot salad with plum, Dutch goat and sheep cheese, cranberries and walnut, and on the dinner card, you can find roasted cauliflower with ground pear, smoked almond, crumbly cheese and leek oil.
The colours of the interior will spring in the eye immediately! The interior was developed in collaboration with Rein Rambaldo of De Horeca Fabriek. The monumental character was being cherished and supplemented by a modern, elegant interior. The authentic vaults were an inspiration for the round shapes in the design. You can find the blue colour of the three tile pictures of the Dutch artist Jan Toorop in the furniture. The large island bar with copper scales invites you to have a drink and offers a cosy spot to have your dinner at the bar.
The combination of high seats and low seats and round and square tables provide a dynamic character.
